Winter Season in the Regions - Boddington Part One

The Wheatbelt and Peel Region's golden plains have transformed to a rich green palette somewhat sooner than the previous year. This is the season when the regions begin to come to life. If you enjoy exploring and being outside, Boddington Motel is an excellent place to spend the night and take some local trails in Boddington and surrounding areas.

Begin your day by taking in the picaresque early morning haze on the banks of Hotham River. If you’re staying at Boddington Motel, you may leave your car and walk down to the river, following the well-marked trail to Ranford Pool. Nature comes alive at this time of year, and there are a variety of bird species to share the walking path with. The Trail is 6.3 K on an easy terrain that leads out to Ranford and then back on the trail along the same route, so you get to view the scenery in a later morning glow on the return journey.

The river draws a variety of species, and the pure country air invigorates the senses as you wander along the glistening waterside. If you enjoy taking photographs, there will be many candid moments along the trek from Hotham Bridge. This is a family friendly walk, so if you are stopping off in Boddington on the way to the Great Southern, you may want to book into Boddington Motel and take in the local scenery.

If you go for an early stroll, you might be in the mood for breakfast and a warming drink when you get back to Boddington. Food Boss Diner, located just next to the Motel, provides wonderful hot and cold cuisine as well as freshly made drinks.  Across the street from the Motel, the Double Shot Café serves delicious meals and hot and cold drinks to dine in or take out. You could even pre-order meals from either cafe for the walk in the morning. If you're going early, pick up your order the night before and keep it in the fridge in the accommodation until you're ready - maybe at Ranford Pool's covered picnic area.

If you’d like to take a longer exploration, Dryandra Woodlands is a short drive away. These woodlands are home to our state's emblem, the endangered Numbat, as well as an unrivalled array of other animals and fauna.

In the evenings, tours of the nearby, internationally renowned Barna Mia Nocturnal Animal Sanctuary are provided. You may see wildflowers (in spring) and wild kangaroos and echidnas nibbling on the oval in the evening.

After a day of adventure, you can be assured that your motel room will provide you with all you need for a warm, comfortable slumber.

“I actually stayed here over a year ago, however, I wanted to come back and do a review as I've stayed at a few different places since, and the Boddington Motel is one of the loveliest places. Clean, modern rooms and the staff are friendly and helpful.”  Guest, Rachel Garner
